Blackbaud Consulting for Independent Schools

You Know
Your Gaps.
We Close Them.

You run your school's systems better than anyone — and you know exactly where you need another set of hands. We're the team that shows up and plugs the holes in the dam: rollover stays on schedule, nothing breaks, and the know-how gets written down so it belongs to the school, not to any one person.

We don't care how it got built. We adapt to whatever you're running — and help you simplify later, on your timeline.

No pressure, no judgment — a conversation about keeping next year smooth.

Built by People Who Build Software

Stack-Agnostic by Design
Blackbaud Core, Power Automate, Zapier, Azure, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Ravenna, OpenApply, Raiser's Edge NXT — whatever you're running, we meet it as-is.
Software Engineering Depth
We can safely reason about — and eventually unwind — custom integrations that a platform admin alone can’t touch.
120+ Hours of Blackbaud Training
Hands-on across SIS, EMS, and Tuition Management, with years of independent-school experience behind it.
Rollover-Season Ready
Annual procedures, student promotion, schedules, gradebooks, and report cards — the calendar-critical work, handled on time.

We care that it works tomorrow.”

Sound Familiar?

The situations we step into

Independent K-12 schools on Blackbaud Education Management come to us at moments like these. If one of them is yours, you already know your gap — that's the strength we build from.

Things Change. People Move On.

Staffing transitions are a normal part of school life. We keep every annual procedure on schedule through the change, write down what was carried in memory, and back up whoever steps in next.

Multiple Divisions, One Platform

Montessori, IB/DP, early childhood through upper school — specialized pedagogy means grading, scheduling, and report cards that the defaults were never built for. We configure for how your school actually teaches.

Custom Automations Holding Things Together

Power Automate or Zapier flows, Azure runbooks, Google Apps Script, Crystal Reports or Power BI filling platform gaps. We have the software depth to understand them, support them, and keep them dependable.

Enrollment Is a Big Task

Applications, contracts, re-enrollment — and the integrations that tie it together, whether admissions starts in Ravenna, OpenApply, or Finalsite Enrollment before landing in Core. We handle it all, end to end.

Mid-Rollover, Clock Ticking

May through August is when everything has to happen in order. We can join mid-rollover and carry it through to opening day — student promotion, schedules, gradebooks, report cards.

Ready to Consolidate

You want to standardize on Blackbaud and retire the third-party workarounds. We map the path and move custom logic into native tooling — at your pace.

Where We Sit

Your team out front. Mezzoly one level back.

Parents, teachers, and students are best served by local talent — people on campus who know your families and your culture. We're not here to replace that, and we never will be.

Mezzoly sits one level back as your second tier: the depth your team can escalate to when a case gets technical, the architects when something needs designing rather than patching, and the trainers who make the day-to-day workflow faster every term.

The Challenging Cases

When an issue goes beyond the day-to-day — a data problem, a platform edge case, an integration acting up — your team hands it to us instead of losing a week to it.

Solution Architecture

When something needs to be designed rather than worked around — a new workflow, an integration, a reporting structure — we architect it properly the first time.

Staff Education & Efficiency

We coach your people on the platform they use every day — Advanced Lists, grading setup, annual procedures — so routine work takes less of their week, term after term.

How We Work

Stabilize first. Everything else follows.

We stabilize what you have, show you what's worth improving, and help you simplify — on your timeline.

Phase 1

Stabilize

We meet your stack exactly as it is and keep everything running — through rollover, through opening day, through whatever transition brought us in. Nothing breaks. That promise comes before any talk of change.

Phase 2

Review & Roadmap

A whole-setup review against Blackbaud best practices. The deliverable is a prioritized roadmap of recommendations — each with its payoff spelled out. A plan you own, not a fault list you have to answer for.

Phase 3

Consolidate & Optimize

Standardize on Blackbaud at your school's pace — migrate custom logic into native tooling and retire the fragile third-party dependencies one by one, only where the roadmap shows it's worth it.

The Setup Review

A review that hands you a plan, not a verdict

A fixed-scope first engagement: we review your full Blackbaud setup — Core configuration, annual procedures, integrations, reporting, and the custom pieces around the edges — against best practices for independent schools.

What you get back is forward-looking: a prioritized roadmap of recommendations, each tagged with what it pays off. No grades, no findings, no blame for how anything got built. You decide what to act on, and when.

02

Harden Before Opening Day

The items that protect rollover, schedules, and the first week of school. Sequenced so nothing critical is left to chance.

03

What This Looks Like in Practice

Ten weeks to opening day

Independent K-12 school · Blackbaud Education Management · Anonymized

A school preparing to open the year as two divisions for the first time, roughly ten weeks out. The environment carried years of capable, hands-on configuration — custom automations, specialized reporting, an admissions handoff from a separate platform — and the school knew exactly where it wanted a second set of hands before the doors opened.

First: Secure the Season

Lock down the calendar-critical path — rollover, student promotion, schedules, and grading setup — so opening day is protected before anything else is discussed.

Then: Validate the Custom Pieces

Walk every automation and report, confirm each one behaves as expected under the new structure, and document the know-how that had never been written down.

Later: A Roadmap, on Their Clock

With the year safely open, deliver the prioritized recommendations — quick wins first, consolidation candidates last, every item tagged with its payoff.

Every school we work with stays anonymous by default — references are available on request, under mutual NDA.

Questions schools ask us

We're in the middle of a staffing transition. Can you keep things running?+
Yes — and quickly. Things change and people move on; that's a normal part of school life. The first priority is continuity: we meet your environment exactly as it is, write down the know-how so it belongs to the school, and keep annual procedures, grading, and communications running. Nothing has to change on day one for everything to keep working.
Will you replace our registrar or database manager?+
No — and we wouldn't want to. Parents, teachers, and students are best served by local talent they know on campus. Mezzoly sits one level back: we take on the more challenging technical cases, architect solutions, and help educate your staff so their day-to-day workflow gets more efficient every term.
Is the setup review an audit?+
No. An audit looks backward for faults; our review looks forward to what's worth improving. The deliverable is a prioritized roadmap — quick wins, items to harden before opening day, and longer-term consolidation opportunities — each tagged with its payoff. There's no verdict and no grade, just a plan you can act on at your own pace.
A former employee built Power Automate flows and Crystal Reports we depend on. Can you support them?+
Yes. Our team comes from a software background, so custom automations — Power Automate, Zapier, Google Apps Script, Azure runbooks — along with Crystal Reports, Power BI, and API integrations are squarely in our depth, not something we work around. We can keep them running as-is, document them so they're no longer a single point of knowledge, and, when you're ready, migrate the logic into native Blackbaud tooling.
Can you help us through year-end rollover?+
Year-end rollover and annual procedures are the core of our seasonal work: student promotion, course and section setup, schedule sets and blocks, gradebook and grading setup, and report card configuration. If rollover is already underway, we can join mid-stream — we pick up wherever your setup currently stands.
Do we have to migrate or change anything?+
No. We lead with stabilization — keeping what you have running through rollover and opening day. Any simplification or consolidation happens later, on your timeline, and only where the roadmap shows a clear payoff. We never make migration a precondition for support.
We use Ravenna or another admissions tool. Does that fit?+
Yes. We regularly handle the admissions-to-Blackbaud handoff — Ravenna, OpenApply, Finalsite Enrollment, and similar tools — including import cleanup so new families land in Core with clean, consistent records.
